How to Clean Your Washing Machine with White Vinegar?
Do you want your washing machine to run smoothly and without unpleasant odors, but you don't want to use environmentally harmful household chemicals? The Marius Fabre soap factory provides a recipe on how to easily maintain your washing machine with natural products.
To clean your washing machine, you will need:
- Marius Fabre baking soda
- Marius Fabre white vinegar
- Basin
- Sponge
- Old toothbrush
- Clean cloth / towel
Step 1: Cleaning the Rubber Gaskets
This first step is very important when cleaning the washing machine. It is very often forgotten that the machine's seals retain all the dirt after washing: hair, pet hair, threads, lint from sweaters, etc.
To properly clean the washing machine seals, prepare a mixture of hot water, white vinegar, and baking soda in your basin. Wipe the most accessible areas of the gaskets with a sponge and finish with a toothbrush.
Rinse with clean water without letting the mixture dry. A full rinse will be done later.
Step 2: Cleaning the Washing Machine Detergent Drawer
Detergent, fabric softener, and washing powder residues leave traces in the washing machine drawer. Very often, depending on the washing machine, you can completely remove it for more effective cleaning.
Put the drawer in the basin, pour hot water and white vinegar over it (60% water and 40% white vinegar). Leave for 15 minutes, then wipe off the remaining residues with a sponge or an old toothbrush. Let it dry or wipe with a clean towel.
Step 3: Cleaning the Drum
Pour 1L of white vinegar and 20g of baking soda directly into the drum of your appliance. Then run the washing machine on the longest cycle at a high temperature.

Step 4: Cleaning the Exterior of the Washing Machine
After completing the previous steps, all that remains is to clean the outside of the washing machine. To do this, fill a bowl with hot water and pour in about 1/4 of white vinegar (adjust the amount according to the amount of water). Then, using a sponge, clean the accessible areas of the washing machine. Finally, rinse with clean water and wipe with a clean cloth.
The cleaning process is now complete. Your washing machine is ready to work for many more years! Remember to repeat this procedure once or twice a year.
Why Use White Vinegar?
White vinegar is a natural product very often used as a household cleaner. It is an ecological and inexpensive alternative to the products found in supermarkets. White vinegar has cleaning and degreasing properties that are effective against dirt and deposits.
